Barrier beaches and barrier islands are essentially just semi-permanent sand bars.  Weather such as hurricanes and other severe weather can erode barrier beaches over time and cause them to move, change shape or size, or even disappear completely.  Climate alarmists will frequently make claims regarding sea level rise based on the changes in barrier beaches.  This, of course, is absolute nonsense, because barrier beaches are more at the mercy of the weather than of any change in sea level.

Bob Endlich describes growing up around barrier beaches and how they were changed after every strong storm that went through the area. He also provides information from news accounts during that period of time. Climate alarmists frequently use barrier beaches to show how global warming has changed the environment, but, in fact, these sandbars and sandy shorelines have always moved around in the wind and waves due to the natural effects of the weather.
