Robert W. Endlich served as Weather Officer in the USAF for 21 Years. From 1984-1993, he provided toxic corridor and laser propagation support to the High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility at White Sands Missile Range. He has published in the technical literature and worked as software test engineer. He was elected to Chi Epsilon Pi, the national Meteorology Honor Society, while a Basic Meteorology student at Texas A&M University. He has a BA degree in Geology from Rutgers University and an MS in Meteorology from the Pennsylvania State University.

INTRODUCTION

My heart sank when I found out about the loss of life, including many young girl campers, during a flash flood event on what should have been a joyous 4th of July holiday weekend along the Guadalupe River in Texas.

Although I’m originally from New Jersey, the Air Force, and later the Army, sent me many times to Central Texas, journeys which crossed Texas’ scenic Hill Country numerous times. When they were small, duty at Ft Hood frequently found me within 2 hours’ drive of Daughter Carol and Grandkids Daryl and Reina, and an excuse for me to take them on a ‘Saturday Adventure with Grandpa Bob,’ usually to drive and visit across the Hill Country. Analysis of the January 2025 Los Angeles’ Wild Fires

 INTRODUCTION

This analysis examines the causes behind the catastrophic January 2025 fires in Los Angeles by exploring both environmental triggers and human failures that contributed to the disaster.  There are two main parts to this analysis, which are described below.

Section A provides an analysis of the extant climate today, and the weather and fire events which unfolded in Los Angeles during the early days of January 2025.

The first of several catastrophic fires began and continued during an extremely powerful (and well-forecast) Santa Ana Wind event.

The Flawed Conversion of James Delingpole from Climate Skeptic to now Alarmist? PART ONE

James Delingpole is an English writer who has written extensively about the allegedly human-caused, CO2-fueled global warming alarm. Wikipedia calls his writing “climate change denial.” But, Delingpole’s recent Substack post, “Valencia: Man Made Climate Change is REAL  Or: Why I No Longer Talk to Climate Sceptics” seems to me, at least, enough of a change in Delingpole’s thought and writing process that I call it his “flawed conversion.”

One of Delingpole’s books is ”Watermelons, The Green Movement’s True Colors,” in which he correctly characterizes the Global Warming Alarmist movement as allegedly Green (conservation-aligned) on the outside, but (Communist) Red on the inside.

PRELUDE: THE 2024 HURRICANE SEASON BEFORE HELENE

The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season got off to a late start; Tropical Storm Alberto did not form until 19 June, the latest named storm since 2014. Then, Hurricane Beryl was a long-lasting (around 14 days) system; she began in the Cape Verde Islands region, tracked past Jamaica, crossed Yucatan, entered Texas near Matagorda and weakened, with her remnants getting to the eastern Great Lakes region, before dissipating, 11 Jul 2024.
