Preview and Analysis of “Climate: The Movie”

Robert W. Endlich

I was very pleased to be able to view and comment on the sequel to “The Great Global Warming Swindle,” (GGWS), a serial documentary directed by the UK’s Martin Durkin and released by Channel 4 in the UK in 2007. The sequel, released in 2024, is “Climate: The Movie.”

INTRODUCTION

It is useful to introduce “Climate: The Movie” by describing how the enemies of Martin Durkin, GGWS, and skeptics of climate alarm label the video and its director, Martin Durkin.  A good example of this is in the Wikipedia listing for GGWS.

Figure 1. The Wikipedia listing for “The Great Global Warming Swindle,” taken from the Presentation Graphics. This listing exemplifies the profound ignorance of Big Tech and the so-called “educated elites,” in these specific topics: “scientific consensus,” they’re resorting to name calling “deniers” and “climate change denial.”

The previous phrase, “enemies of Martin Durkin,” might be too limiting. Writ large, this group also includes many/most left-leaning members of society. Some call them the “educated elites;” they include many in Government, Continue reading “Preview and Analysis of “Climate: The Movie””

A Year Later: Alarmism, and Claims the Pacific Northwest’s Heat Wave was Human-Caused

In late June 2021 a well-publicized heat wave occurred in the Pacific Northwest states of the USA.  I write this review a year later with a full year having passed for retrospection to examine what happened, in hopes that we might learn some lessons.

One NPR story captured a headline and narrative that puts many elements of Global Warming Alarmism up for critical examination.  The headline,

“Climate Change Is Driving Deadly Weather Disasters From Arizona To Mumbai,”

dated 29 Jul 2021 introduces a storyline put forth by NPR’s Climate Team Continue reading “A Year Later: Alarmism, and Claims the Pacific Northwest’s Heat Wave was Human-Caused”

More Climate Alarmist False Narratives

Robert W. Endlich

Five Impossible-to-believe topics fed to us by the alarmists:  A 2019 report: Climate is in Crisis, 100% renewable electricity is possible, Hurricane Dorian was made stronger by our use of fossil fuels, Hurricane Michael was Category 5 at landfall, and human-caused CO2-fueled global warming is a coming catastrophe.  This post summarizes my November 2019 presentation to the Cruces Atmospheric Sciences Forum, CASF.

THE CLIMATE CRISIS TOWN HALL

On 4 Sep 2019 CNN presented a televised town hall meeting where 2020 Democrat presidential candidates discussed a purported human-caused, CO2-fueled climate crisis; Inside Climate News reported on the event.  I focus on three elements of that report, encapsulated in these quotes:

“There was none of the debate over science that has dominated U.S. political discussions and strangled action in recent years.”

“Most of the sparring was over what would they do to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable, how far they would go to change American lifestyles, and how would they marshal the money and political support.” Continue reading “More Climate Alarmist False Narratives”

Q&A Following Dr. David Gutzler’s Water Conservation Workshop

by Bob Endlich

[Dr Gutzler conducted the 1 March 2018 “Lush and Lean” water conservation workshop in Las Cruces in the Roadrunner Room of the Branigan Library from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM:  About an hour-long lecture of 21 Slides, followed by questions and answers. The nominal topic was, “Learn about projecting future water supplies in a rapidly changing climate.” I prepared this memo the next day, 2 March 2018 and have edited it a bit in the time since.  I provide it in this post as a small part of the overall climate debate.]

Overall Gutzler did only a fair job explaining the development of the present La Nina and the present and impending drought conditions; I rate it as ‘only fair’ because he did not mention either the 2016 El Nino or features of El Nino-Southern Oscillation, he mentioned the Pacific Decadal Oscillation but did not explain it, or it’s 60-year periodicity.

[This is perhaps professional one-upsmanship on my part, because I think and thought at the time that my presentations on the subject are better than his, an example of my most recent on this subject is at the web site, https://casf.me/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/PDF_Climate-History-and-El-Nino_ENSO-_3_Oct_2017.pdf Slides 34 to 122]

Dr. Gutzler devoted perhaps only 5 minutes to the “increasing greenhouse gasses are causing anthropogenic climate change,” but this point was the last one in the three points he emphasized in his concluding slide.

There were a couple of people who approached Gutzler after the talk was over; I was the last and introduced myself; we have Continue reading “Q&A Following Dr. David Gutzler’s Water Conservation Workshop”

The AMS Scolds Rick Perry for Believing the Oceans are Stronger than Your SUV

Dr. Roy Spencer responds to an American Meteorological Society attack on DOE Secretary Rick Perry’s comments during an interview on CNBC’s “Squack Box” regarding climate change.

Dr. Roy Spencer

June 22nd, 2017

DOE Secretary Rick Perry

[This post originally appeared on Dr. Roy Spencer’s blog on 22 June 2017.  Like many others, Dr. Spencer resigned in disgust from the American Meteorological Society some time ago because of their exaggerated statements regarding climate change.  Now in an obvious display of unscientific hyperpbole, the  AMS has attacked DOE Secretary Rick Perry.  Dr. Spencer takes them to task for the wildly overstated claims regarding climate change that they made in their attack on the Secretary.

Dr. Spencer says,

“I am ashamed that the climate research community allows such pronouncements to be made. The AMS became a global warming advocacy group many years ago, and as a result it lost a lot of established members, including myself.”  ]
