[added comments] The above appears to be an overly simple definition of climate change and the last sentence is open to extensive discussion.  There is much more to climate change than temperature.  There is wind, precipitation, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and other elements.  Also, there is nothing unusual about climate change, because the climate is constantly changing.  Climate is simply average weather.  What that is depends on the averaging period.  Some say that at least 30 years of measurements are required to compute climatic averages, but that is not necessarily correct.  There are good reasons to consider 60 years of measurements due to the 60-year Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO).  The limiting factor in computing climatological averages is the amount of measurement data available.  Generally, there is no more than 100 to 150 years of data unless proxy data are used.  Regardless, the climatological average will be different for each different averaging period.  Consequently, we must conclude that we really do not have sufficient data to know what the climatological averages are not to mention how they are changing.

From Alberta to Australia, from Finland to France and beyond, voters are increasingly showing their displeasure with expensive energy policies imposed by politicians in an inane effort to fight purported human-caused climate change.

Skepticism about whether humans are causing dangerous climate change has always been higher in the United States than in most industrialized countries. As a result, governments in Europe, Canada, and in other developed countries are much farther along the energy-rationing path that cutting carbon dioxide emissions requires than the United States is.

Another Feature for CASF, “New Visitors.”

Suggestions from some CASF members to introduce visitors to the non-problem of catastrophic, human-caused, CO2-fueled “Global Warming” ( since the warming of the 1980s and 1990s stopped about 1998, the name needed to be changed to “Climate Change” ) have led us to a new feature, “New Visitors” short for, “New Visitors Start Here.”

The idea is to provide a short introductory paragraph (or two) and a series of links to take new visitors on a tour of many of the false claims of imminent climate catastrophe through links to short topics which demonstrate this folly. Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity (ECS) with a Doubling of CO2

It has been 40 years this year since the Charney Report was published with a number of proposals for what CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere from http://blog.friendsofscience.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/A-willie-soon-tarot-card-part-9-156x300.jpghuman sources would likely do to global surface temperatures or so-called anthropogenic global warming.  Similarly, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was formed about that same time to determine the effects of human activity on global temperature.

Over the next few decades a large number of models (at least 73) were developed to show what these effects might be and terms for the models were devised.

Climate Crisis Inc. gets billions to promote imaginary man-made cataclysm – but attacks realists

The climate crisis industry incessantly claims that fossil fuel emissions are causing unprecedented temperature, climate and weather changes that pose existential threats to human civilization and our planet. The only solution, Climate Crisis, Inc. insists, is to eliminate the oil, coal and natural gas that provide 80% of the energy that makes US and global economies, health and living standards possible.

Failing that, CCI demands steadily increasing taxes on carbon-based fuels and carbon dioxide emissions.

However, as France’s Yellow Vest protests and the latest climate confab in Poland demonstrated, the world is not prepared to go down that dark path. Countries worldwide are expanding their reliable fossil fuel use, and families do not want to reduce their living standards or their aspirations for better lives.

A Book Review as a learning and teaching tool, John Kehr’s “An Inconvenient Skeptic.”

Several years ago, I purchased a Kindle copy of John Kehr’s book, “An Inconvenient Skeptic,” breezed through it, copied several graphics, and thought, “this is pretty good; it might make the beginnings of a presentation someday.”

Couple of weeks ago Bernie McCune emailed; had previously penciled in doing the January 2019 meeting presentation, found he’d be unable. With no others having a topic ready to go, “someday” arrived the day I got that email from Bernie.

I busied myself capturing images from the book, showing seasons, geography, and useful information on temperature, measurements, and historic temperatures.
